Growing Season   During the warm months of summer, a slow-release fertilizer is used to give your yard a consistent source of the nutrients it needs.  This will keep your yard healthy and green.

Broadleaf weed controls are applied to eliminate unsightly weeds such as dandelions or clover they may have migrated from your neighbor’s yard.

FALL: August-October

Fall Growing Season With a warm Fall season, it is important for your lawn to continue to get the nutrients it needs. Our Fall application will supply the right mix of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium. The service also includes a pre-emergence herbicide to help control a variety of Winter weeds by preventing them from germinating.
  WINTER: November-January

Winterization This is a very important application. It is the time of year your lawn is storing up nutrients for the winter. This application provides extra nutrients to increase the root system, creating a much quicker “green-up” in the spring.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1.   Grass Types:-   what type of grass do I have?
  2. You probably have either Bermuda or St. Augustine- the most prevalent in our area.    Certified’s Turf Professionals can evaluate yours and let you know.

    1.   Watering:   How often should I water my grass?
    2. Proper watering is critical to its health. Improper watering can cause pale, sparse turf, many diseases, and most weed problems. It is best to water less often (1-2 times per week) for longer periods (1-2 hours or 1 inch).

    3.   Mowing:  How often should I cut my grass?
    4. Cutting grass too low or infrequently can cause the lawn to turn brown and increases its susceptibility for weeds, diseases, and crabgrass. It is important to make sure the mower blades are sharp and that the lawn is mowed frequently (at least weekly during peak growing season).

    5.   Broadleaf Weeds:  How do I get rid of the weeds in my yard?
    6. Some weeds are difficult to control. Other weeds spread very rapidly and can choke out your grass. It’s best to have a Certified’s professional prescribe and apply the proper weed controls at the proper frequencies so that your lawn always looks its best.

    7.   Lawn Diseases:    What if my Lawn gets a disease?
    8. There are many types of diseases that can affect the appearance and health of your lawn. Diseases are very difficult to predict and we cannot guarantee your lawn will not be affected by a disease. However, if a disease becomes a problem, Certified’s Lawn Care Specialists can identify and provide the proper treatment to help your lawn recover to its optimum health and color.

    9.   Insects:  Do I have insects that will hurt my lawn?
    10. Thousands of insects live in your grass. Most are helpful, while some threaten your lawn’s existence. It’s necessary to know if damaging insects are present in your area so they can be prevented or controlled.  Certified can evaluate and treat any potential insect problem.

    11.   Color:  My grass is not very dark- is this bad?
    12. The color of your grass says a lot about its health. A light colored lawn could mean its missing important nutrients. Different varieties of turf have different colors and intensities of green. Certified’s special greening agent always allows your grass to look its very best.

    13.   Shade:  My grass will not grow under my tree- what is wrong?
    14. Your lawn’s exposure to sunlight and shade helps determine the type of grass that grows best in your lawn. Some lawns cannot be improved because the wrong turf is trying to grow in the wrong area. Certified’s Turf Professionals will recommend the correct turf type for your specific shade conditions.

    15.   Timeline:  How quickly will I see improvement in my lawn?
    16. This depends on what condition your yard is in when we begin.  If your yard has been stressed and is weak, it may take several treatments before it returns to a lush green lawn.  However, you should see improvement from several weeks to a couple of months from the starting point.

    17.   Potential:  I can not get my grass to grow- why is that?

Some Lawns, no matter how much work is put into them, will never look as lush and healthy as others- due to soil type, shade and other factors. Beware of those who promise the guarantee of a perfect lawn.   Certified’s professional will give you the Straight Up Facts on your yard.
